The New Website for The Collaborative for Educational Services

June 30, 2013 by izzy

Since late January I have been working and collaborating with a great team who has been very busy re-designing The Collaborative for Educational Services website.  The new site was launched July 1! Yeah team.

As I came into the team my involvement has been on several levels; creating wireframes for the architecture [I used Mockingbird], assisting with understanding the business flow and work impact the new website has on the various departments in The Collaborative and uploading content into the Drupal content management platform. Along the way there have been thousands of details to attend to, lots of problem solving with the front end developer, content specialists and our Communications Director.

It has been a lot of fun and I still have content uploading to assist with along with finalizing style guides and user manuals.  However, I wanted to share  the before and after images of the website.

Can you see a difference?  Tell me what you think in the comments below.

Here is what the old Collaborative website looked like:

And here is what the new Collaborative website is now looking like: users can now register and pay for course and events online. Our content is more logically organized and I feel, much nicer to view and move around in.

Going Mobile With My Website

January 19, 2012 by izzy

I just finished getting my website into a mobile format, so it is can be easily read with smartphones and/or tablet devices. Now, information about my design work is easy to find while on the go.

I have created: easy tap buttons for calling or navigating, accordion menus that expand to reveal more in depth information, videos are available, and I have my free gift ready for folks to download.

If you need your website to be mobile, look me up [on your phone] and give me a call.  I can design and create a mobile website for you and your business.

The mobile phone market is growing and you should be growing your business along with that expanding market.  According to the 60 Second Marketer, there are 6.8 billion people on the planet, 4 billions of whom own a mobile phone.  Do you know how many people own toothbrushes?  3.5 billion.  That’s right, more people own a mobile phone than own toothbrushes.

People are using their mobile devices to: locate, learn, communicate, shop, and they respond. It is predicted that by 2013 the primary way people will access the Internet will be via their mobile browsers.

New Digs: Before and After

October 24, 2011 by izzy

While Spring cleaning is usually left to the earlier months of the year, I decided to take on a clean-up project of my own and re-design my own website. I wanted something more dynamite and decided upon the WordPress theme; Canvas.  Hers’ what my website looked like before.

MWDesign Website- Before

I built the website in a “test site” and when I was happy with it, I moved it all over to my live site. I am liking the sliding images; representing samples of work I have done, along with the open, clean feel of the new site and the new “light bulb” logo design.

The footers hold video samples and within the site I designed widgets to hold samples of other work I have done.

MWDesign Website- After

Inside, I have loads of samples showing my instructional design work. Have a peek around.
