Mary Wiseman, Ed.D. | In Charge of What's Next

Hello, I'm Mary Wiseman. As a passionate innovator and advocate for lifelong learning, I'm deeply committed to championing the underprivileged and fostering optimism in education. My expertise shines in the realm of online teaching, where I actively transform how courses are delivered specifically to Hispanic and Latinx students. My goal is to empower these students to proudly integrate their cultural heritage and unique perspectives into the educational landscape.

My mission is simple: I work collaboratively with faculty to enhance their teaching methods, ensuring that Hispanic and Latinx students feel a strong sense of belonging, discover their unique voices, and leverage their strengths to excel in their studies and make impactful changes in the world.

The Core Objective: My primary aim is to partner with educators, providing them with innovative consulting services. These services are grounded in cutting-edge curriculum design and pedagogical strategies, particularly tailored for online, hybrid, and hyflex learning environments.

The Vision: The overarching vision is to enlighten educators about effective online teaching methodologies. Many educators lack the specific know-how for crafting and implementing curricula that resonate with students in digital classrooms, especially Hispanic and Latinx students. I am dedicated to exploring and pinpointing these unique teaching approaches and sharing my findings with fellow educators.

The Evidence: Every online student deserves an enriching education led by proficient online instructors. This includes fostering a vibrant learning community. However, many educators are unaware of the specific needs of online students. By adopting a comprehensive set of best practices for online learning, educators can create, develop, and facilitate exceptional educational experiences for all students.

My Commitment: I am devoted to recognizing and addressing the needs of underprivileged students, guiding faculty in discovering and applying effective practices in their online or multimodal classrooms.

The Strategy: I actively seek collaborations at local, state, national, and international levels. My involvement in various educational committees, such as the Massachusetts Community College Council's Race Task Force Group and the Anti-Racism, Inclusion Alliance, along with my role in the New England Faculty Development Consortium, exemplifies my commitment to gradual but meaningful educational reforms through strategic initiatives.

The Outcome: My ultimate goal is to assist online educators in creating top-notch learning experiences for all students, particularly Hispanic and Latinx students, for whom online education might be their primary access to higher education. Online learning offers unparalleled flexibility to students.

My Motivation: As a fervent advocate for social justice, I deeply value collaborative learning. My personal journey with online learning has shown me its transformative power. I'm always on the lookout for roles where I can contribute to meaningful change.

My Passion: I am dedicated to ensuring that all students have equitable access to education, paving their way to higher education, rewarding careers, and the skills necessary to contribute positively to their communities.
